What are the benefits of LED Therapy?

LED light therapy will improve the overall condition of your skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, pigmentation, redness and blemishes.

LED treatments:

  • Induce skin healing
  • Increase circulation
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Increase in collagen and elastin production
  • Have no downtime

Some individuals have found LED can reduce the severity of Rosacea, eczema and dermatitis.

How does LED Therapy work?

The light and wavelength emitted from the LED’s are absorbed by the skin and converted into energy. This energy then stimulates the renewal process and encourages cells to increase production of collagen and elastin. Unlike other popular skin treatments that induce controlled wounds to promote skin repair, LED lights bypass this step skipping straight to kickstarting the rejuvenation process making it perfect for sensitive skin types or those looking for less invasive cosmetic procedures with no downtime.

Red LED light:

The red LED lights encourages healing and skin rejuvenation. It can also be used to minimise recovery time after laser or chemical peels.

Blue LED light:

The blue LED lights target acne causing bacteria on the skin. By removing the bacteria count on the skin, acne is reduced.

What should I expect from LED Therapy?

When you arrive at the clinic, your makeup (if applied) will be removed. Following this, the lights will then be placed over your face. You will notice a light warmth that most find quite relaxing – feel free to take a nap!

Upon completion, you are free to continue with normal activities. It is safe to apply make-up immediately following the treatment.

How soon will I see results?

Results will typically begin to be seen around two weeks into your treatment plan, with improvements being more pronounced at around four weeks. As the LED therapy works at a cellular level, you will continue to see improvements for 3-6 months following the conclusion of your treatment plan.

How many sessions do I need?

We typically recommend one to two sessions per week for a total of four to eight weeks. The exact treatment plan will vary based on client skin condition and concerns to be treated which will be discussed during the initial consultation with one of our therapists.

As a general rule:

For skin rejuvenation, one red LED light session per week for six weeks.

For acne treatment, we recommend two blue LED light session per week for eight weeks. We also suggest continuing for one blue LED light session per week for four weeks.

Following this, maintenance sessions are recommended, but will vary based on your skin and the results attained.

Is LED Therapy suitable for me?

As LED light therapy is a complement to the body’s natural processes, is suitable for all skin types, tones and conditions.

We do however recommend that all clients arrange a consultation with one of our therapists prior to any treatment to discuss any concerns or relevant medical history. Individuals with epilepsy, or those taking anti-arthritic medication, cortisone or steroids please consult your doctor prior to your appointment for clearance and provide us with a medical certificate.

While it is generally deemed safe, women pregnant or breastfeeding, we recommend consulting your doctor prior to visitation.

Pre treatment preparation

Pre treatment:

Prior to treatment makeup will need to be removed, otherwise just sit back and relax while the LED lights work their magic.

Post treatment care

Post treatment:

As there is no down-time with LED treatment you can resume activities as normal and reapply makeup if desired. As with any other treatment, we recommend a SPF be applied daily before sun exposure to compliment benefits and protect skin from further UV damage.

What are the possible side effects of LED Therapy?

Every skin is different and treatment results vary for each person. There are currently no documented adverse side effects for LED-Therapy.
