PERMANENT LASER HAIR REMOVAL

WHAT IS PERMANENT LASER HAIR REMOVAL

We have all tried and tested a variety of body hair removal methods at one time or another – methods such as plucking, waxing, shaving, electrolysis and depilatory creams only provide a short term solution from stubborn hair growth. With laser hair removal, you can achieve the smoother, longer-lasting result you’ve been waiting for.

Our team of therapists are Laser Safety and Candela Laser Practitioner certified and are dedicated to providing outstanding long term results with our Laser Hair Removal services.

By using only Candela Gentle Laser technology, the gold standard in laser medical grade hair removal, we deliver dramatic hair removal results with the utmost effectivity, ease, and comfort.

HOW DOES IT WORK

Before starting each Laser Hair Removal session, we assess our client’s skin type and administer the suitable treatment settings for the best possible result without compromising skin safety at any point during the treatment session.

For permanent hair removal on any part of the body, this safe and effective procedure works by utilising the energy of the laser and effectively inhibiting the hair’s ability to regrow through the absorption of the laser energy by the melanin pigment in the hair, and into the hair follicle. The laser also disrupts hairs that are principally in the active growth (anagen) phase at the time of laser treatment.

Laser hair removal works best with darker and courser hair as the hair follicles have a high melanin content. This permanent treatment is generally not recommended for lighter blonde or grey hair as the melanin content is low, meaning it will be mostly unaffected by the laser.

How Many Sessions Do I Need?

The number of sessions required to achieve a permanent result varies person to person and can be affected by many factors including the melanin levels in your hair follicles and the time between each session.

Generally, you will begin to see results within the first four to eight sessions of the laser hair removal treatment. Most clients report 90% hair removal by their eighth session. To ensure the bets results, treatments should be performed every 4 to 6 weeks during the initial stages.

It is important to understand that factors such as hormones, certain medications, as well as genetics can cause hair growth over time. With this, we often advise our clients that hair is greatly reduced and future maintenance treatments may be required, and some of the more stubborn hairs may not be permanently removed over time. You should expect future maintenance treatments anywhere between two to four times per year.

Is it safe?

Laser hair removal is a very safe treatment when performed by certified individuals. You can have peace of mind that all of our laser hair removal therapists are qualified, Candela Laser Practitioner Certified with Laser Safety Certifications.

When we administer our medical grade hair reduction services, we only use TGA and FDA approved equipment, with the hair removal process conducted professionally by our Laser Safety and Candela Laser Practitioner Certified qualified therapists.

By using only Candela GentleLase Laser technology, the gold standard in laser medical grade hair removal, we deliver dramatic hair removal results with the utmost effectivity, ease, and comfort.

All our treatments are conducted under the most hygienic and safest standards with certified eyewear protection for both the clients and therapists.

Before starting each Laser Hair Removal session, we assess our client’s skin type and administer the suitable treatment settings for the best possible result without compromising skin safety at any point during the treatment session.

Am I Suitable?

We recommend all clients to arrange for a consultation prior to undergoing treatments to determine the suitability for Laser Hair Removal. Different skin tones and different hair colours play a part on the effectiveness of the treatment and especially with the results.

Clients with lighter skin with darker hair can generally expect greater success in results due to the greater absorption of the laser, when compared with clients who have darker skin tone and lighter hair.

Lastly, please be advised that Cosmetic Boutique’ Laser Hair Removal services permanently treats existing hairs and cannot prevent future growth that is caused by genetics, age, medication, or imbalanced hormones.

Pre & Post Treatment

It is important that you inform your therapist if you have any significant medical history and/or if you are taking any medications or antibiotics, as some medications can be photosensitizing. To ensure a safe and effective treatment, it is important to follow the pre and post care information provided.

Pre Treatment

  • Do not wax, pluck or bleach at least two weeks prior and during any course of treatment.
  • Avoid sun exposure two weeks prior to any laser treatment and use 50+ SPF sunscreen during any sun exposure. Cosmetic Boutique recommends Skinstitut Age Defence 50+ sunscreen.
  • Do not use any form of tanning products which include; tanning creams, solutions, lotions or solariums for at least 4 weeks prior to your treatment. Your laser treatment may need to be postponed if you have tan present on your skin.
  • Do not use any depilatory creams or bleaching creams four weeks prior to your laser treatment.

What To Expect

Common things to expect from Laser Hair Removal

  • Redness, itchiness, warm skin.
  • Follicular Oedema; swelling of the hair follicles in response to heat energy of the laser. They generally look like small red dots which usually appears shortly after treatment (or during) and can resolve from 30 minutes to 72 hours. It is important not to shave until the follicular oedema has resolved, to prevent further irritation to the skin. Follicular oedema creates a lumpy, swollen appearance of the skin and is a normal response post treatment.
  • Chaffing/Friction; can occur from wearing tight clothing immediately post treatment.

Less Common

  • Hives; use of antihistamine can significantly reduce irritation.
  • Hot spots; post treatment ongoing erythema (lasting longer than 72 hours).
  • Hyper and hypopigmentation.
  • Crusting and swelling of the skin; in the unusual case of crusting, contact Cosmetic Boutique. Do not pick at these areas as this may cause further irritation leading to infection

During Treatment

  • Medical Grade Laser Hair Removal treatment is up to 85% effective in most cases and comes with mild-moderate discomfort. Taking an analgesic such as Nurofen prior to treatment may help manage some of the discomfort during treatment.
  • Shave area to be treated within 12 hours of your laser session.
  • Do not use photosensitizing creams for two weeks prior to treatment. Speak to your consulting therapist about what these include.
  • Do not use photosensitizing medications for at least six months prior to treatment. Speak to your consulting therapist about what these include.
  • Cease use of glycolic scrub or any other active ingredients 72 hours before treatment.
  • Do not shave facial areas, areas for spot treatments and for review appointments.
  • Do not apply any lotions, perfumes, after shave or creams on the day of laser hair removal treatment.
